We understand that the announcement of the Daimler facility closure has created uncertainty and many important questions for our members and their families. This page has been created to provide clear, accurate, and up-to-date information about the issues that matter most, including employment, benefits, seniority, retirement, unemployment, contract rights, and available resources. As new information becomes available, this page will be updated regularly. Q: If an employee retires with benefits and gets the severance package as well, would it affect them doing the trade act and or unemployment?
A: The bargaining committee will have a Representative from Rapid Response, a State Workforce Labor Liaison who coordinates and assists with layoff aversion and dislocated worker benefits at the August 15th meeting.
Q: Can we ask for weeks instead of two for the severance package?
A: Yes, we plan to propose during bargaining.
Q: Will the company be bringing in representatives from the state unemployment office or workforce services to discuss unemployment benefits and available resources for employees affected by the plant closure?
A: Yes, the Company and the Union will have resources available.
Q: What assistance will be provided to employees regarding unemployment claims?
A: The Union will have representation from Rapid Response
Q: Will there be on-site workshops or information session about unemployment benefits, retraining programs and job placement services?
A: Yes, the Company and the Union will have resources available.
Q: What support will be available for employees who may face delays in obtaining new employment after the closure?
A: The IAMDAIMLER.com website has a resource tab with information.
Q: Will my anniversary date be prorated if the plant closes before or on my anniversary date, or would I not receive the anniversary benefit at all?
A: This will be discussed and proposed at bargaining.
Q: Do employees have to remain employed through the 30th to be eligible for the severance package?
A: This will be discussed and proposed at bargaining.
Q: Can we expect there to be no more shutdowns between now and the plant closure?
A: The (WARN) act requires the company to pay 60 days prior to a shut-down but this will also be discussed and proposed at bargaining.
Q: If an employee currently receives six weeks of vacation and will have reached 1,200 hours by July for their upcoming anniversary date, but the plant closes about three months before that anniversary, will they receive the next six weeks of vacation on a prorated basis?
A: This will be discussed and proposed at bargaining.
Q: If we normally work about 10 months out of the year, will severance be calculated based on the 10 months of service, or will it count as a full year?

Q: If an employee remains employed after the plant closes, does their severance take effect on the 30th or on the date they officially separate from the company?
A: This will be discussed and proposed at bargaining.
Q: If employees are under age 55 to 59 and half, will they be allowed to take money out of their 401(k), and what penalties or restrictions would apply?
