Daimler Update 08/06/26

Members,
We have met with the company representatives, along with the other Unions affected (Teamsters, SEIU, and the Painters), to start bargaining over how the closure effects our members. We discussed the current CBA benefits and asked a number of clarifying questions.
At the end of the day, we received a proposal from the company that your bargaining committee is reviewing, asking more questions, and working on a counter. We are scheduled to meet again with the company tomorrow morning, and expect to get a final document sometime tomorrow. As soon as that is finalized, we will share it with you.
This "agreement" needs to be voted on and ratified by our membership, as our International President and the IAM Constitution requires. That will take place at our August 15th,1 pm meeting. A notice will be sent out and posted on the website with that information. To be transparent, there is no other option (strike, going back to the table, etc), and this "agreement" is final. This is not like a contract bargain, where we have the power to strike. But this still has to come before our membership for approval.
Additionally, we did discuss with the company Daimler's announcement to build a new manufacturing plant in the USA. They mentioned the unfriendly business environment in Oregon, wanting to be closer to their suppliers and customers, as reasons, and said there are no plans to reopen or build a manufacturing facility in Oregon or Washington.
We should have more clarity on the outcome of this bargaining tomorrow.
Stay strong, continue to be safe, and more information to come.
Your Bargaining Committee.
