Daimler Update
Aug 7, 2026
We met again with Daimler representatives and our Union brothers and sisters today and got closer to a final closure agreement. We do not have a finalized agreement as of yet, but are close on a number of topics, that we would like to share with you for your information.
These are tentative agreements and subject to change, as we meet again with the company in the coming weeks. Again… these are subject to change, and subject to ratification by our membership. And when we get to a final agreement notice for voting dates and times, as well as the complete final document will be made available.
Topics:
Voluntary opportunities for IAM Maintenance employees, Offline Machinists, and CTS employees to work after the October 30th date, for a limited period of time. Details to come in the final agreement.
Retiree medical for current retirees will continue. Retirees under the Kaiser HMO plan will change to PPO coverage January 1, 2027. Details to come at a later date.
Those current employees who are eligible for retiree medical coverage under the contract will have the option to retire and take that benefit or a cash buyout option. Details to come in the final agreement.
Severance will be paid from an employee’s original hire date minus breaks of service of more than 12 months. Details to come in the final agreement.
Vacation time (current and accrued), Sick time (banked), Holiday time (deferred), and Discretionary Days will be paid out as per the CBA. Details to come in the final agreement.
Healthcare continuation coverage will be for 6 months, starting November 1st, and employees are still required to pay their portion to continue coverage. Details to come in the final agreement.
The company agrees to not contest Oregon Unemployment claims. Approval for Unemployment Benefits is still the decision of the Oregon Unemployment Insurance department.
The company agrees to reach out and support Unemployment Rapid Response meetings onsite during non-work hours. Details to come at a later date.
The company agrees to support our joint application for Trade Adjustment Assistance. This could provide additional training and unemployment assistance, but is subject to approval by the US Government.
We know you might have a number of additional questions, and our meeting on August 15th at 1pm would be a great opportunity to ask those. These are still tentative items and subject to change, and as we gather more information we will share, as soon as we can. We still have a couple of additional meetings to schedule with the Company to finalize this agreement, and when that is completed, the full document will be made available, as well as the vote date.
Thank you for your patience and we will see you on the 15th.
Your Bargaining Committee
